Lahmajoune Villeray is a compact bakery tucked on Rue Faillon East, serving up a focused menu of traditional Armenian pastries and flatbreads, with their signature lahmajun taking center stage. The space is cozy and straightforward, with no seating available, so most visitors come prepared to grab-and-go or enjoy their food nearby.

The atmosphere inside is warm and unpretentious, marked by friendly, down-to-earth service that locals appreciate for its genuine hospitality. The spot draws a steady stream of neighborhood residents and curious food lovers who crave authentic Armenian flavors without fuss.

Standout offerings include the thin-crusted Armenian lahmajun, well regarded for its delicate dough and balanced fillings, along with options like kebbé and baklava. Some customers note the pastries come pre-made and are reheated at purchase, which suits the no-frills, quick-service model but might not satisfy those wanting everything made fresh to order.

This bakery works best as a casual stop for a savory snack or a sweet bite during the day—ideal mid-morning or early evening when you can still catch a fresh selection before popular items sell out. While seating is absent, the inviting service and reasonable prices make it a practical choice for locals looking for straightforward, satisfying Armenian street food flavors in Villeray.

Cozy and warm! The guy in the front was extremely polite and down to earth. We were a bit late so lahmajoun was sold out but he suggested other options and they were so delicious. The cheese stick are a must try Edit: the photos are from my second visit , pure deliciousness

I tried almost all the dishes, including the desserts. The prices are very reasonable and affordable. The food quality is excellent, the portions are generous, and the service is outstanding—from the warm welcome to the friendly farewell. Thank you very much !!

The Good: - Fair prices - Decent pastry options - Their minced meat flatbread (lahmajoune/lahm bajeen) is one of the best I had recently Things to Improve: - I would prefer if their pastries/flatbread were made to order instead of just warming them for you - The meat in the sfiha is barely tastable and the filling is too much. It would be better if they were smaller, less tomatoey, and if they put some pine nuts on top - I hope they will add a seating area or creat a little bistro

This place is amazing and delicious. The staff are kind and welcoming. The recommendations to try items are fantastic. The grape leaves!!! I’m still dreaming of them…. The pies. The cheese rolls. Everything was perfection. Highly recommend coming here. Only downfall is that there is no tables/seating.

I had the pleasure of visiting Lahmajoune Villeray yesterday , and I can’t stop thinking about how incredible my experience was. As a foodie who has a Turkish bestfriend and enjoys Turkish lahmajoune at her childhood house whenever she visits , I had to give this place a try—and I’m so glad I did! Located in the heart of Villeray, this cozy takeout spot has been serving the local community for over 40 years, and now I completely understand why. Owned by a warm and welcoming Syrian family, the restaurant truly feels like an extension of their deep passion for sharing their rich culinary heritage. Whether you’re grabbing a quick bite on the go, taking home a full meal, or planning a get-together, Lahmajoune Villeray consistently delivers top-notch quality in every dish. I’ll be posting a video review on TikTok (@Foxy.appetite) and Instagram (@Foxyappetite) soon! In depth review: Food Quality: During my visit, I decided to try a few items I’d never had before, including the namoura and mouhamara, both of which exceeded my expectations. The namoura—a sweet semolina cake soaked in syrup—was rich and moist, with a delicate floral note that made it a perfect ending to my meal. The mouhamara, a smoky, tangy dip made with roasted red peppers, walnuts, and olive oil, was bold and flavorful with just the right amount of spice. It paired wonderfully with their perfectly seasoned pita chips. I also ordered both the meat and vegetarian kibbeh, and they were outstanding. The meat version was rich and flavorful, while the vegetarian option was equally delicious—surprisingly moist and packed with hearty ingredients and spices. A real treat! Another standout was the hummus, which was silky smooth and creamy, with a perfect balance of flavors. The tzatziki was equally impressive—fresh, creamy, and refreshing, with a lovely balance of cucumber and herbs that complemented the richer dips and meats beautifully. And the tabbouleh—wow! It was so light, fresh, and bursting with zesty lemon flavor, making it the ideal palate cleanser. Of course, I can’t forget the Lahmajoune. The thin, crisp flatbread topped with spiced ground meat was simply perfect. Each bite was full of flavor but never greasy, showcasing the ideal balance of savory spices. It’s clear that they’ve truly perfected this dish. Service: What really made my experience unforgettable, however, was the exceptional service. The family behind Lahmajoune Villeray is incredibly warm and welcoming, making you feel like you’re not just a customer but a guest in their home. They genuinely care about both the food and the overall experience they provide, and that’s evident in every interaction. Atmosphere: While Lahmajoune Villeray is primarily a takeout spot (perfect for grabbing something delicious to enjoy at home or on the go), the small shop itself is clean, cozy, and inviting. The space reflects the family’s passion for good food and hospitality. While it’s not meant for a sit-down dining experience, it’s the perfect spot to quickly pick up a delicious meal. Conclusion: If you’re in Montreal and craving authentic Mediterranean food, Lahmajoune Villeray is an absolute must-visit. From the silky hummus and flavorful mouhamara to the crispy lahmajoune and mouthwatering desserts, every bite bursts with flavor and is made with care. The family’s dedication to quality and hospitality is evident in everything they do. Whether you’re a fan of Middle Eastern cuisine or someone new to it, this hidden gem will leave a lasting impression. Highly recommended!

Lahmajoune in Villeray was excellent. The staff are super, super friendly and helpful, which immediately makes you feel welcome. I tried the classic lahmajoune and it was outstanding, very generous with the meat, and the mix of meat, tomatoes, onions, and spices was just wow. I also tasted the vegetarian kibbeh, which was really good, rich in flavors and perfectly made. The prices are very, very reasonable, which makes the experience even better. I definitely recommend this place! They also offer other great options like manakish (cheese, zaatar), baklava, and even pita bread mixed with zaatar. A wonderful spot to enjoy authentic flavors.
